Sewer dosing

Septine sewer dosing

Septine is our bespoke chemistry option for hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) and sulphide control in sewer utility networks. It is assessed against the network duty and available data alongside other distinct chemistry options, with dosing and engineering support available from the same team.

Who this is for

Utility operations managers, sewer network engineers and chemical procurement teams

Your operating priority

Assess a bespoke sewer H₂S-control chemistry on treatment performance and whole-of-operation cost, not the drum price alone.

Before you specify or buy

Establish a baseline, comparable dosing duty, monitoring locations and delivered treatment cost before comparing Septine with your current chemistry. Calibration and performance review can also be commissioned independently of product supply.

Septine V2: field performance and dosing optimisation

Outcomes achieved across three treatment periods in one sewer network. Both proprietary treatments achieved lower downstream mean H₂S readings and operated at lower product volumes than the earlier MHL period. The figures below show each treatment’s operating context.

  • Earlier reference period

    30% magnesium hydroxide liquid (MHL)

    Product volume
    175–190 L/day
    Historical downstream mean H₂S
    ~5.3 ppm
    Dosing point and treatment reach
    ~1.95–2.0 km, mid-network dosing, 3 SPS

    Historical downstream mean, gas-phase H₂S.

  • Separate proprietary treatment

    Suppressor

    Product volume
    ~140 L/day representative
    Historical downstream mean H₂S
    ~1.5 ppm
    Dosing point and treatment reach
~3.6–3.65 km, upstream dosing, 5 SPS

Historical mean spans operational dose adjustments. Approximately 140 L/day is the representative operating rate.

  • Optimised operating period

    Septine V2

    Product volume
    ~100 L/day (operating range 100–110 L/day)
    Historical downstream mean H₂S
    ~2.27 ppm
    Dosing point and treatment reach
~3.6–3.65 km, upstream dosing, 5 SPS

16 September 2026 analysis, including weekends. The 23 August–9 September dosing blockage is excluded from this operating-period mean.

These are separate historical operating periods, with different flows and conditions, rather than a season-matched controlled trial. Mean gas readings describe network treatment performance; worker exposure and safe entry require separate assessment.

Ongoing monitoring and optimisation

Monitoring observations on 12 October 2026 showed operation near 100 L/day with H₂S around 10 ppm and Sunday-night/Monday-morning excursions near 20 ppm. These are separate observations and are not part of the earlier 2.27 ppm mean. Tracking these changes informs ongoing optimisation.

Suppressor and Septine are separate formulations, with their results kept distinct. For each new network, we assess treatment duty, calibrate delivery and monitor downstream response to establish the operating programme.

What is covered

  • Developed for sewer utility H₂S and sulphide management where site conditions and agreed treatment objectives make it suitable.
  • Our Septine comparisons have shown advantages in strength and concentration per supplied volume, dose rate and generally treatment cost in the applications assessed; results are site- and comparator-specific.
  • Septine supplied with dosing equipment, connection and calibration support.
  • Performance and total treatment cost are application dependent. Compare options on site-specific data, including dose rate, delivered volume and the whole dosing arrangement.
  • Dosing calibration and performance reporting can also be provided independently of the chemistry selected or its supplier.
  • Dosing location, network conditions and monitoring reviewed with in-house RPEQ capability.
  • Deployment is available for suitable projects across Australia, subject to scope, access and mobilisation logistics.

What we will ask you

  • Network layout and dosing location
  • Current chemistry, dose rate and delivered cost
  • Access, power and security at the dosing point
  • Monitoring data available for comparison

Frequently asked questions

How should a utility compare Septine with its existing sewer dosing chemistry?
Compare a defined treatment duty using baseline network data, actual delivered dose, relevant downstream measurements and total treatment cost. Include storage, resupply and operator effort. Septine is a separate formulation from Suppressor; neither product name nor concentration alone proves a lower operating cost.
